I have been a fighter my whole life. From being born in distress fighting for my life, to serving in the United States Marine Corps, fighting the enemies of freedom thousands of miles from home. My father taught me as a boy that the world is full of bullies. Bullies who use power, wealth, status, fear and intimidation to take advantage of those who are disadvantaged, sick, hurt, or different. He told me I had a choice: stand and watch, or take up the fight. I chose to fight. Today, I take up the fight for those who have been injured due to the negligent and reckless conduct of others. When a person is injured at the hands of another, they are immediately thrown into a valley of giants, including powerful insurance companies and greedy corporations, determined to deny them fair compensation for their injures, pain, suffering, medical bills and lost wages. In that valley, I am their voice; I am their champion; I am their fighter. And there is no greater honor.
I was raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, the son of a merchant and a Wal-Mart cashier. Due to a longing desire to serve my country, I worked hard to graduate early, obtained a college degree, and enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 17. During my time in service, I traveled to over 41 countries, was meritoriously promoted to every rank, and received several commendations and decorations. I had the honor of serving with elite forward deployed units, considered the “tip of the spear” due to their ability to be on target within hours of receiving orders. My time spent in the Marine Corps helped shape my character, and instilled me with unwavering honor and integrity.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge, I obtained a degree in History from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, and began a career as a public school teacher and a wrestling coach. Several years into that career, I had a fateful meeting with a local lawyer who inspired me to fulfill a life-long dream of going to law school. Like me, this lawyer had been raised in a blue-collar family, had devoted a portion of his life to public service, and had determined that his life’s mission was serving others, and fighting on their behalf. I am privileged to have met Dan Newlin those many years ago, and with his encouragement and mentoring, I graduated law school ranked #2 in my class, and have enjoyed a successful career as a civil trial lawyer.
Since taking up the fight, I have had the honor of helping thousands of injured Floridians, and have won in excess of $40 million dollars for my clients, including several million dollar and multi-million dollar settlement and verdicts. The relationship between lawyer and client is a sacred and special one. All of my clients have my cell phone number, and have access to me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When I undertake representation of a client, I become their attorney for life, and remain available to take up the fight on their or their family’s behalf.
I am a proud member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization which is recognized as one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership in this organization is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements. Fewer than 1% of attorneys in the United States are members. I am also a proud member of the Florida Bar (Trial Lawyers Section), the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Orange County Bar Association, Lawyers of Distinction, Distinguished Justice Advocates, Florida Justice Association, Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
