Meet Our Attorneys
I have been a trial attorney for 25 years and am licensed to practice law in Georgia, Florida and Colorado. I grew up in Southwest Florida and attended Florida State University. I went to law school at the University of Georgia and started my career in the District Attorney’s Office in Gwinnett County, Georgia handling Felony Prosecutions. In 1997 I relocated to Central Florida and began representing injured victims and their families in automobile and medical malpractice cases. In 2007 my family moved Colorado and I worked as in-house counsel for an insurance company. I then spent about a year as a Director of that insurance company overseeing large loss claims and lawsuits throughout the country. In 2015, I moved back to Florida to do what I loved best, giving a voice to those who have been hurt by the negligence of others.
I have tried in excess of one hundred cases in my career with a focus on high exposure litigation. I have been given a rating of AV by Martindale-Hubbell and am listed in the 2013 Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers.
My years of experience has given me a number of different vantage points. I bring that experience to work for the clients of Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys. I spent over 10 years trying cases on behalf of the injured and their families throughout Florida. I spent 6 years learning the “ins and outs” of how insurance companies evaluate and value accidents and claims and seeing cases won and lost throughout the country.
I approach every case as if it is going to trial. While the overwhelming majority (90+%) of all cases in the United States settle before reaching a courtroom, it is just a part of my analysis of a case from the beginning. From my first reading of a police report and first meeting with a client I begin to think about how I will present and argue that case to a jury. There are several “juries” in a case which can include the investigating agency, the insurance adjuster, the other driver or even my client’s own insurance company. I think it is critical that a client have confidence that their law firm is committed to achieve the best result possible.
In addition to practicing law I have had several opportunities for teaching and legal training. I taught at the Police Academy in Gwinnett County, Georgia and also taught civil and criminal law paralegal courses at a local community college. In Florida, I taught a variety of continuing legal education courses for National Business Institute and was a legal commentator on a nationally syndicated morning show broadcast out of Orlando.
