Meet Our Attorneys
I was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but grew up on the south side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in a blue collar, working class neighborhood. After high school and a little college, I served in the U.S. Army where I jumped out of a few perfectly good airplanes as a paratrooper. Following my discharge from the Army, I returned to Milwaukee where I worked for several years on the graveyard shift at a local factory. Eventually, I was fortunate to join the Milwaukee Police Department where I served as a patrol officer in Downtown Milwaukee. One night, while on patrol, I was shot in the line of duty and lost most of my sight in one eye. This ended my career as a police officer, but led me back to college and eventually law school at the University of Florida. I graduated in 1990 and have been practicing law since.
Through this I have learned a few things. First, nothing good comes easy. Instead, it comes from hard work. Second, everyone, no matter how old or young, rich or poor, wants to be treated with courtesy and respect. I have found that, no matter how far a person has fallen, when you treat them with courtesy and respect and they will usually return the favor.
I have tried to incorporate these lessons into my profession as an attorney. I try to always treat my clients with courtesy and respect. Treat them the way I would want to be treated if I were a client.
This means remembering a file is not just a file. It is my client’s file and, to my client, it is the most important file in the world. It means doing what I say I am going to do. If I say I am going to call you back, then I should call you back. If I tell you I will keep you updated, then I need to keep you updated. I should always do what is necessary to move your file to conclusion. Files should not languish because a lawyer is “too busy.”
Most lawyers are smart, but in my opinion it is the little things that make the difference between great representation and average representation. Good communication, organization, actively working the file, doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done makes all the difference.
No lawyer is perfect and I certainly am not. I have made mistakes and will make more. But, I have and always will do my best to represent my clients zealously and with courtesy and respect. I am proud and honored to be a part of the excellent legal team at Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys and I would be proud and honored to represent you.
