Hello, my name is Brenda Czekanski. Thank you for taking the time to read my biography. I was born in New Jersey but raised in Miami from the time I was 6 months old, so I consider myself a Florida native. It was instilled in me from a young age the importance of helping others to make meaningful change in the world.
I attended Florida State University and majored in Criminology. After I graduated, my first job was as a legal assistant in a criminal law office. I never wanted to be a lawyer and working there didn’t change that, at first. I was eventually promoted as a paralegal handling the appeals for individuals who had received life without parole sentences for crimes they committed when they were children. To say that I loved the work would be an understatement. I loved telling the stories of my clients and fighting the uphill battle for them.
So back I went to FSU for law school, fueled by my desire to help people. While in law school, I continued working on juvenile resentencing cases and perfected my advocacy and litigation skills. I held several executive board positions for student organizations, which honed my leadership skills. I was also a member of the Moot Court Team, which afforded me the opportunity to present oral arguments on important legal issues to various panels. This included the Florida Supreme Court and Washington D.C. Circuit Judges, which also awarded me a national championship.
I started my legal career as an attorney practicing criminal law and I did that for 4 years before deciding that it was time to help others in a different area of law. I couldn’t think of a better place to do that than Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys. I am so pleased that Mr. Newlin asked me to join his firm where I can continue to fight injustices and help people.
